Archaeology:
The Department of Anthropology & Ethnic Studies offers programs leading to M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Archaeology. We have a growing and active Archaeology program with research focus in several areas including human adaptation to arid and other marginal environments. With our degree programs we offer generous support packages to qualified graduate students. Graduate students have the opportunity to participate in ongoing field projects and original research through which intensive training in archaeological theory and methods is stressed.

Our archaeology faculty has works on topics that include:
The Southwest
The Great Basin
The Near East
Experimental archaeology
Ethnoarchaeology

Currently we have five labs devoted to 1) Southwestern Archaeology and ceramics; 2) lithic and site analysis; 3) Near Eastern archaeology; 4) Ethnoarchaeology; and 5) Zooarchaeology.
